‘League Of Legends’: Riot Games Shares Update On Pantheon Rework
Riot Games has recently confirmed that the next champion rework would be for Pantheon. The gladiatorial warrior known for his large map presence and simple-to-use abilities would finally receive an overhaul for aged skill kit. The development video previewed on what new abilities would Pantheon receive for his rework.
As seen on the official “League of Legends” Youtube champion, the reimagining Pantheon video showed the lore behind the champion and the changes they’re planning to introduce with him. In the game’s story, Pantheon is an entity called the “Aspect of War” and took over a human’s body to do his will in Runeterra. The man the Aspect possessed was named Atreus. At best, Pantheon is a celestial, warlike spirit currently possessing a body of a renowned warrior.
In the new rework, the Aspect of War is now gone from Atreus’ body and the person himself is back in control. In the story, another champion, Aatrox, supposedly killed this Aspect but not the man it possessed. With the Aspect dead, Atreus brings his warrior expertise and the powers of fallen Aspect in tow to Summoner’s Rift.
While the final names are yet to be confirmed, the rework showed some new but still familiar abilities for Pantheon. For his spear throw, Pantheon will now charge up his spear for a skillshot throw instead of simply chucking a homing spear toward his foes. Meanwhile, his Aegis of Zeonia-like ability still leaps toward his foes for a stunning strike but now does a quick combo afterwards.
Lastly, his ultimate is now called Grand Starfall, instead of Grand Skyfall, as he drifts toward the targeted area instead of immediately slamming in the middle of his chosen area. However, his third ability wasn’t showcased directly in this trailer.
Riot Games has yet to announce when this rework would arrive in the live servers. The test servers has yet to receive this new reworked character. As seen on the “League of Legends” support site, the next major patch 9.16 will be on August 14 which could be the release of the reworked Pantheon.
Pantheon’s original skill kit sported aggressive abilities that helps players dominate lanes and pick out key targets in teamfights. However, his skill set has been overshadowed by other characters newly added in “League of Legends.” Pantheon had his current skillset since his release in the game back in the first season.
