'League Of Legends Wild Rift' Guide: Best Caitlyn Builds And Tips
KEY POINTS
- Caitlyn is a long-ranged marksman who excels in dealing high burst damage
- She has decent crowd control and self-peel abilities
- Her ultimate can be used to either start or end fights
“League of Legends: Wild Rift’s” Sheriff of Piltover excels at pelting enemies with basic attacks from a distance while keeping targets rooted in place with traps. Like Ashe, Caitlyn thrives in the backline, and while she can’t start fights directly, she can definitely handle herself when teams come to blows.
Playing as Caitlyn is rather straightforward, but the best players should know even the smallest details of her kit in order to get the most out of her. Here are some tips and some build recommendations for Caitlyn in “Wild Rift.”
“Wild Rift” Caitlyn Builds
As a long-range marksman with a heavy reliance on auto-attacks, Caitlyn should be built primarily with the usual AD, attack speed and crit chance combo that many other marksman-type champions use.
- Core Items
- Infinity Edge
- Rapidfire Cannon
- Mortal Reminder
- Gluttonous Greaves with Stasis
Ideally, players should have both Rapidfire Cannon and Statikk Shiv on Caitlyn, but deciding which one to purchase first depends on the player’s preferred strategy. Rapidfire Cannon is better for poking and dueling, while Statikk Shiv excels in dealing AoE damage.
Bloodthirster can be taken as a lifesteal option if the enemy team consists mostly of squishy targets. Alternatively, Blade of the Ruined King is a good option if there is no one else who can deal with high HP targets.
An interesting off-meta build is to purchase flat Armor Penetration items like Ghostblade and Duskblade, along with high AD items like Bloodthirster and Infinity Edge. This will maximize the damage of Caitlyn’s ultimate ability and potential to kill squishy targets in a single hit.
Caitlyn Gameplay
The brunt of Caitlyn’s playstyle revolves around scoring hits with her Headshot passive to deal massive burst damage to targets. Headshot can be triggered once every seven auto-attacks or if targets are hit by either her traps or her net.
Early on in the match, Caitlyn should prioritize getting minion kills while poking enemies down with her first ability and her basic attacks. Once the game starts to ramp up, focus on laying down as many traps as possible during fights to limit the enemy’s movement.
One useful combo to know is to take an enemy down with the 90-Caliber Net then immediately follow up with Piltover Peacemaker. If the situation allows, finish off the combo with an Ace in the Hole to secure the kill.
