'League Of Legends: Wild Rift' Guide: How To Play Jayce
KEY POINTS
- Jayce is a versatile champion who can fulfill different roles
- He is best used as either a tanky fighter or a high-burst assassin
- Jayce plays well in almost every lane in “Wild Rift”
Jayce is a bit more complicated to use than the average champion in “Wild Rift.” Proper mastery of both forms of his hammer is required to fully utilize his kit’s true potential. Thankfully, he’s easy to pick up and learn, so new players won’t have to worry much about perfection just yet.
As a hybrid melee and ranged champion, Jayce excels in whittling down enemies from afar before closing in for the kill. This makes him very oppressive in mid and melee lanes, making him a natural counter to lumbering champions like Garen and Darius.
Here’s a quick guide on how to play Jayce in “Wild Rift,” including some of his best builds and a few gameplay tips.
“Wild Rift” Best Jayce Builds
Players can build Jayce a multitude of ways depending on the role they want to fulfill. He can be played as a Fighter or Assassin depending on his items, and it’s up to the player to decide which route they like more.
Fighter Jayce Build
- Core Items
- Trinity Force
- Black Cleaver
- Death’s Dance
- Boots of Lucidity
This build will make Jayce a little tankier while increasing his sustained DPS. When fighting against teams filled with tanky targets, this build might be the better option as it gives Jayce a better chance at winning duels.
Assassin Jayce Build
- Core Items
- Manamune
- Serylda’s Grudge
- Duskblade of Draktharr
- Boots of Lucidity
The term “assassin” is used very loosely here. This build enhances Jayce’s poke and one-shot potential by giving him high amounts of flat Armor Penetration to bypass most of a squishy target’s armor.
Jayce Gameplay Tips
Jayce’s overall playstyle revolves around poking enemies with his cannon before cleaning them up with his hammer. Try to chip away at enemies’ health bars with Shock Blast and Acceleration Gate before diving into them with To The Skies and Thundering Blow.
When using the Fighter build, try to stay in melee form for as long as possible when in a fight to make use of the passive resistance bonus. Only swap to ranged form when enemies are out of reach.
As for the Assassin build, try to sneak in a Duskblade-empowered auto-attack as much as possible to make use of the damage. Otherwise, an accelerated Shock Blast into the To The Skies and Thundering Blow combo should be enough to secure a pick.
