Tom Cruise's rant over COVID-19 health and safety protocols received mixed responses from celebrities, including Leah Remini and Whoopi Goldberg.
The "Jack Reacher" star, 58, was caught in an audio tape released by The Sun shouting at two of the crew members of "Mission Impossible 7" after seeing them standing less than a meter away from each other. HHis angry outburst received mixed responses from celebrities with Remini, a former Scientology member, accusing Cruise of doing it for show.
"Anything you see coming from Scientology and Scientologists, such as mask wearing and supposedly humanitarian efforts, is just a show. It’s for public relations reasons only," Remini wrote.
"Tom’s reaction that was released yesterday shows his true personality. He is an abusive person. I witnessed it, I’ve been a recipient of it on a small level, and I’ve been told of similar abuse by his former girlfriend, his employees, and his friends. This is the real Tom. This was the same reaction Tom gave his household staff when they did not have the right ingredients for him to make chocolate chip cookies. This is the same type of tirade Tom launched into when an assistant had the audacity to serve him a drink in a chipped mug."
Cruise doesn't care about the abuse that the employees of the Sea Organization received nor at Shelly Miscavige being held captive by her husband, David Miscavige, Remini added. She continued that Cruise and the members of Scientology do not believe in COVID-19.
A statement from the Church of Scientology allegedly described coronavirus as a "bullbait" and a drill to make the people react. Remini continued saying that Scientologists should not react to the global pandemic and just go on with life as normal in their dedication to Scientology and their daily activities.
Meanwhile, Goldberg defended Cruise. On Wednesday’s episode of “The View” she expressed support for Cruise saying she understood him. Goldberg’s co-hosts also voiced their support to Cruise.
"You know, some people don’t understand why he would get so angry. I get it," Goldberg said as quoted by Page Six.
"You can get a new camera operator — no disrespect to camera operators. You can get a new sound man. But if [Cruise] is looking over and he can see you not doing what you’re supposed to be doing, it’s kind of like a little bit of a middle finger, in my opinion."
"The View" co-hosts Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin agreed with Goldberg. "I believe that Tom Cruise was completely justified in doing that," Behar said. Meanwhile, Hostin suggested that the violation "probably warrants his rage, his anger, his disappointment."
