Leaked 2018 iPhone Glass Panels Reveal Thicker Bezels For 6.1-Inch LCD Model

The front glass panels for Apple’s 2018 iPhone models have surfaced online in a new leak. The alleged leaked photos also appear to confirm that the budget-friendly 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will feature thicker bezels than the OLED models.

The front glass panels for the 2018 iPhone models were leaked by by Ben Geskin (@VenyaGeskin1) on Twitter. The photo shows the glass panels for the 5.8-inch, 6.1-inch and the 6.5-inch models of Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup. All three of the glass panels may have confirmed that all of Apple’s new iPhones will arrive with the same style of notch that was first introduced with last year’s iPhone X.

Geskin didn’t say where he got the images, but he has a solid track record in leaking parts for upcoming smartphones. Geskin is also the same leaker that suggested that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone would feature slightly thicker bezels, which will measure 5mm. For comparison, the bezels on the OLED 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch models will only measure 4mm.

Geskin also shared a second photo showing the front glass panels with wallpapers. This provides everyone with a better look at what the final products will look like when they are officially revealed by Apple later this September. The thicker bezels of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone seem to be only noticeable when the device is right next to the OLED models.

A user named “Dimitri12” also uploaded a similar photo on Slashleaks, showing the three glass panels for the 2018 iPhones. This provides a better look at the glass panels and it also makes it clear that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will indeed have thicker bezels than the OLED models.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is rumored to cost somewhere between $600 and $700. The LCD model will be Apple’s cheapest iPhone model for 2018. Meanwhile, the 5.8-inch OLED model, which will be the direct successor to last year’s iPhone X, might cost between $800 and $900. The most expensive out of the three will be the 6.5-inch OLED, which has been nicknamed the “iPhone X Plus.” The 6.5-inch model might retail between $900 and $1,000, according to AppleInsider. All three models are expected to feature the TrueDepth camera system on the notch, which will enable Apple’s Face ID facial recognition technology.

The two OLED models might ship in September and early October, while the lone LCD model might only start shipping in November. Last month, it was reported that the LCD model is being delayed due to light leakage caused by the notched design of the LCD panel.
