Leaked Footage Allegedly Shows New Harry Potter Open-World RPG

Leaked footage allegedly depicting what appears to be a whole new game based on the wizarding world of Harry Potter has surfaced online. The footage shows a game that features wizard battles, Hogwarts, character customizations and a whole lot of magic.

The footage, which has already been taken down from YouTube, was leaked by a Reddit user named VapeThisBro. The leaker claims that the footage was shown in a room for a focus group. Although they weren’t allowed to record a video or take photos, VapeThisBro managed to stealthily record some of it and upload it online. The leaker also explained that he had to censor the bottom right corner of the video because it has a serial number that could identify him by Warner Bros. He also said that he was paid to watch the footage.

According to VapeThisBro, what they saw was a trailer for an unannounced Harry Potter RPG. The trailer shows that the game will be played in third-person and players will be able to cast magic and explore various parts of the wizarding world, including Hogwarts. The game has been described as an open-world action RPG that takes place sometime during the 1800s. Details on the story are scarce, but the game’s story will be separate from the books and the films, according to Polygon.

Players will take control of a character who has “unique abilities” and was able to earn a late acceptance into Hogwarts for the fifth year. This character will also work alongside Professor Elezar Fig and together they will embark on an adventure to uncover the mystery behind events that originated in the Forbidden Forrest which is now causing trouble within the school.

The new Harry Potter RPG will allow players to become one of 8 different wizard types and they can customize their witch or wizard. It was also mentioned that the game will have a new magic system that will allow players to cast “countless” spells. Players will be free to explore the wizarding world and they will be able to choose their friends and house in Hogwarts. Players can also choose between the path of good or evil.

The leaked footage shows that the game looks very polished despite the video recording quality, as pointed out by Engadget. It’s likely that the game is a AAA title that will be available on consoles and PC, but that’s just speculation at this point.

It’s believed that this new Harry Potter RPG is being developed by Avalanche Software, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Last year, Avalanche was searching for a senior writer that has a “deep understanding of British culture” and “branching storytelling.” There hasn’t been any official announcements from Warner Bros. regarding a new AAA Harry Potter RPG. However, Warner Bros. did block the leaked footage on YouTube on copyright grounds.
