  • Lebron James wanted to be like Sonya Curry in Bronny's game
  • Bronny led Sierra Canyon over pop's alma mater
  • Lebron took own scene from courtside

Bronny James’ clutch play and eventual match MVP award in Sierra Canyon’s win over St. Vincent-St. Mary on Saturday was news as his dad’s courtside reactions caught by several camera cutaways earned separate headlines across all publications of their own.

But while the special father-and-son moment got fans astonished, it seemed that the entertainment served along the line could have been more amusing as Lebron James himself revealed at halftime of the said match that he had wanted to be like Steph and Seth Curry’s mom Sonya for the game.

An act that would have enticed spectators to refill the beer mugs and popcorn boxes, the older James, being the supportive father that he is, told Rachel Nichols of ESPN, "I told my wife I needed to do what Steph Curry's mom always does and get the half St. Vincent-St. Mary, half Sierra Canyon jersey for this game."

Sonya got the attention of fans last Western Conference Finals when she and her husband Dell wore hybrid jerseys in support of their sons who were up against each other in the series that was one by Steph and Warriors at the expense of Seth’s Trailblazers.

The 34-year-old is an alumnus of the Ohio based High School but his loyalty to his alma mater was sacrificed as it was obvious all game that he got all his money for his son’s team. As if it was scripted, the “heir to the throne” Bronny came through the clutch as he provided to winning defensive stop and basket with less than a minute to go. The Trailblazers went on to nip the home team, 59-56.

The crucial moment got the four-time NBA MVP up on his feet, jumping that had him slightly pushed back by an official as he crossed the restricted sideline. One could just imagine the level of delight that would have been caused if James Sr. had gotten the camera on him on every Bronny basket while wearing a personalized jersey of his high school and his son’s.
