LeBron James Son Injury Untimely But Won’t Affect Rise To Basketball Stardom
KEY POINTS
- Bronny James' MCL injury is unlikely to change his basketball stock moving forward
- Bronny could miss the entire sophomore season with Sierra Canyon High School
- Several college clubs already have Bronny on their radar
Bronny James has been showing a lot of promise but will not be spared from injuries.
Most were shocked to learn that the 16-year-old son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James suffered an MCL injury, something that will keep him sidelined for three months.
The four-star recruit of the class of 2023 revealed some weeks ago that he suffered a torn meniscus.
He underwent surgery to have it addressed and is expected to make a full recovery, the Los Angeles Daily News reported. However, the bigger question is will he still be able to return and play for Sierra Canyon High School.
Aside from the fact that Bronny will have to sit out for roughly three months, there is the league where he is playing as well.
With COVID-19 still in the air, questions on whether the state of California would allow indoor sports to continue is another factor. Hence, there is a looming chance that he may miss the entire season if things do not improve.
At the end of it all, Bronny's injury could force him to sit out his entire sophomore season. For any ordinary player, that would be a severe blow.
But then again, this is the son of a well-known NBA player. He has already captured the eye of several interested schools. That list includes Duke, Kansas and Kentucky among others.
For basketball players, it would be best to incur such injuries while they are still young. Bronny is only 16 and this means his recovery time should be faster.
Some players have become better after this, suggesting that Bronny could even come back stronger than before.
Considering LeBron is also keeping track of his son’s progress, expect the four-time NBA champion to aid Bronny back to competitive shape, probably better than what he has already shown.
The thought of that alone is daunting.
