Lee Grace Dougherty: 'I Deserved to Get Shot"
"Dougherty Gang" member Lee Grace Dougherty, 29, told the FBI that she deserved to get shot in the leg. "I pointed the gun at the cop," she told the FBI. "I deserved to get shot," Dougherty added. The stripper from Florida pointed a gun at a Colorado police chief when she and her brothers crashed their car after a 100 mpg police chase.
"We weren't trying to hurt anyone; we just wanted them to get back," said Dougherty according to the Daily Beast.
The manhunt for three troubled Florida siblings was initiated Aug. 2 when they shot at a police officer who was trying to pull them over for speeding in Florida and ended in the Rocky Mountains Wednesday. Ryan Dougherty had been convicted in Volusia County of a sex offense on a child. According to police, Dougherty texted his mother, "There's a time for all of us to die."
The siblings are also suspected of robbing a bank in Valdosta, Ga. hours later. The FBI said that one of the robbers had an AK-47.
29-year-old Lee Grace Dougherty, 26-year-old Dylan Dougherty Stanley, and 21-year-old Ryan Edward Dougherty reportedly bought camping equipment and planned to hide in the forest.
Colorado State Patrol officials said that the family was spotted trying to buy ammunition for an AK-47 at a Walmart Wednesday morning. According to Sheriff Kirk Taylor, their small white car was seen at a gas station in Colorado City . A deputy followed and called for backup from the Colorado State Patrol, Taylor said. A 100 mph chase ensued.
The suspects will face four charges each on first-degree assault on an officer.
