'The Leftovers' Season 2 Spoilers: Episode 7 Synopsis Released; What Will Happen In 'A Most Powerful Adversary'? [VIDEO]

"I'm letting you handcuff me to the bed every night and we are acting like that is totally normal."

Yes, Kevin's (Justin Theroux) deteriorating mental health has been pretty much ignored so far in Season 2 of HBO's "The Leftovers." The people around the troubled cop -- Nora (Carrie Coon), Matt (Christopher Eccleston), the Murphys -- have all had too much on their respective plates to notice that Kevin is having conversations with imaginary friends while redoing the wallpaper. That will change in episode 7, "A Most Powerful Adversary," when Kevin is forced to face the woman who has been haunting him since the Garveys showed up in Miracle -- Patti Levin (Ann Dowd).

According to the synopsis for the new episode, Nora has some surprise news for Kevin and Jill (Margaret Qualley). The promo for the episode reveals that the "news" is that Nora is leaving -- Kevin only finds out after waking up, handcuffed of course, to an empty bed and a spiteful Patti.

"She's gone," Patti chides. "It's going to be a hard day, buddy."

In episode 6, Kevin confessed to Nora that he feels himself going crazy and has been "seeing" Patti Levin. It was a rough episode for Nora -- she discovered she might be a Lens, an unfortunate, energy-exuding person responsible for others' departures -- and Kevin's news comes at a bad time. So, it seems Nora, who lives in a perpetual fear of being abandoned since the Sudden Departure, is going to react by doing just that to Kevin and Jill.

The promo for the episode reveals that Kevin's search for Nora will involve confronting Patti. In one scene he calls out the (imaginary) Guilty Remnant leader in the middle of the woods . She's seems game for the challenge.

"You think I'm scared to do battle with you," she asks. "I am so very ready to do battle."

This is shaping up to be an intense hour of television.

Where did Nora go? And will Kevin be able to conquer whatever inner demons are fueling his visions of Patti? Fans will have to wait to find out. "The Leftovers" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO.
