Is ‘Legacies’ New Tonight? Danielle Rose Russell Says, ‘We Will Be Back’
UPDATE: Julie Plec updated fans on Twitter to let them know that all 16 episodes of Season 2 will be available on Netflix starting Friday.
Original story: Thursday is “Legacies” night, but tonight’s episode is not new. The CW series is taking a break in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
Hope Mikaelson actress Danielle Rose Russell took to Twitter last week to tell fans that the show will come back eventually. “Obviously, Legacies is going to be taking a little bit of a break as far as filming and airing is concerned due to safety reasons,” Russell said. “We will be back once it is safe for everyone to come back to work.”
Meanwhile, showrunner Julie Plec added that the crew put finishing touches on the last episode while working from home.
It’s not clear if Season 2, episode 16 will serve as just a “spring finale” with more Season 2 to come or if “Legacies” will just pick up with Season 3. That likely depends on the length of the pandemic and exactly when people can return to work.
Julie Plec fans can still tune in for another show she executive produces. “Roswell, New Mexico” Season 2 started airing a few weeks ago. It wrapped filming long before the COVID-19 pandemic, and no hiatus has been announced. Currently, nothing will take over the Monday at 9 p.m. timeslot until “Penn & Teller” returns on June 22.
Riley Voelkel, who plays Freya on “Legacies” and “The Originals,” is currently guest-starring as Jenna Cameron on the alien drama. New episodes air Mondays on The CW.
On Thursday night, however, “Legacies” fans can catch a rerun on the network. “You Can't Save Them All” will re-air on April 2. The episode is part of Kai’s (Christopher Wood) return from earlier this season. The episode sees the Saltzmans trying to escape the prison world that Kai has been living in with a few Salvatore School outcasts. Meanwhile, Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) learns something new about his powers.
