‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: Mick Meets Julius Caesar In New Season 3 Trailer
Mick’s well-deserved vacation in Aruba is cut short when he comes face-to-face with anachronism.
In the new trailer for Season 3 of CW’s “Legends of Tomorrow,” Mick (Dominic Purcell) is sunbathing on the beach when he’s approached by a gladiator on a horse.
“I’m Julius Caesar (Simon Merrells) of Rome,” says the man in full battle gear.
“I’ve been in one of your casinos in Vegas,” Mick casually replies.
While Mick doesn’t immediately realize that Caesar is an anachronism, executive producer Phil Klemmer told DC Legends TV earlier this month that Mick is actually the first Legend to find out that their rival group of time master, the Time Bureau, isn’t really that effective in their job.
Klemmer said that the introduction of Time Bureau next season forces the Legends to go back to their normal lives. Mick, however, bumps into an anachronism missed by the Time Bureau while vacationing in Aruba.
“The first six months are great,” Klemmer said when asked about Mick’s R&R in Aruba. “[But] six months, one day into it? Things take a turn. He’s the first Legend who realizes that the Time Bureau, for all their professionalism and competency, that there is one anachronism that they have missed, and for Mick, it’s just like ‘Aw, seriously? Do I have to? I could spend another six months on this beach, just getting tanned and drunk.’”
For the rest of the team, however, that unfixed anachronism is sort of their “golden ticket” to prove themselves once again. “That’s really the dynamic for Season 3: Our team justifying their existence, proving to their foils the Time Bureau that they’re still needed and necessary, that their unorthodox ways of doing things still serves a purpose,” Klemmer said.
The new trailer also gives fans their first look at Legends’ newest member, Zari (Tala Ashe).
“You guys are superheroes?” Zari asks the Legends in the promo clip.
When Ray (Brandon Routh) says that they actually saved the world, twice, Zari replies: “Then why does it still suck?”
During a roundtable interview at the San Diego Comic-Con last month, Routh revealed that Ray and Zari won’t get along right away when they meet each other next season. “I think they’re going to not see eye-to-eye,” Routh said (via Hidden Remote) when asked about Ray and Zari’s relationship. “That’s definitely going to be their dynamic for a while.”
Routh said that Ray and Zari have opposing views about life and how technology can affect change, and those differences sort of put a wall between the two characters.
“Legends of Tomorrow” Season 3 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW. Watch the recently released trailer below:
