‘Legion’ Episode 2 Spoilers: David Learns More About His Powers And The Group Of People Who Saved Him [VIDEOS]
David (Dan Stevens) is going to find out the truth about his mental illness in next week’s episode of “Legion.”
In the trailer for Season 1, episode 2, Melanie (Jean Smart) — the head of the group who saved David from the nefarious government agency at the end of the premiere — tells David that he isn’t really diagnosed with Schizophrenia and the strange things he sees are just manifestation of his powers.
“We believe that you are a very powerful telepath which means you can control matter with your mind,” Melanie tells David in what appears to be the group’s underground facility. “[In here,] we find your powers. We see what triggers them. We make you whole.”
As for why Melanie’s group rescued David from the government agency which was interrogating him for the most part of episode 1, Ptonomy (Jeremie Harris) tells David that the group is at war with the said agency.
“We’re at war and we’re losing, and you maybe the powerful mutant alive,” Ptonmy reveals to David in another promo clip teasing the rest of the show’s freshman run.
“Melanie runs a different kind of facility than Clockworks,” Rachel Keller, who plays Syd on the series, told The Hollywood Reporter. “We have these two opposing views: one place that wants to subdue what is special and unique about someone, and another that wants to help express and learn and experiment with what’s special and unique.” Apparently, Melanie believes in the latter.
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Noah Hawley said that there’s a sense, on Melanie’s “part, of … ‘I don’t want to weaponize you. I want to help you understand who you really are.’ That’s something she’s done with all the people there. But when she starts to do it with David, weird things start to happen. And she realizes that the enemy within might be more powerful than the enemy without.”
“Legion” Season 1, episode 2 airs on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 10 p.m. EST on FX.
