Leighton Meester, Blake Lively Receive Warm Greetings From Fans On Gossip Girl Day

Back in 2012, then-New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg declared Jan. 26 as Gossip Girl Day in honor of the famous TV series’ 100-episode milestone. This year, “Gossip Girl” lead actress Leighton Meester celebrated the day by sharing some selfies with her millions of fans and followers on social media. Meanwhile, Meester’s ex-friend Blake Lively did not celebrate Gossip Girl Day, but she did receive a lot of well-wishes from their loyal fans.

On Thursday, Meester uploaded a snap showcasing the Polaroid selfies she posted on a well. The selfies flaunt the 30-year-old actress-singer’s different looks and constantly changing hairstyles. There’s no telling from which photoshoot the selfies were taken from, however, because Meester did not provide a caption for the post.

Nevertheless, her fans were pleased that she updated her Instagram account on Gossip Girl Day. One fan wrote: “You are forever gorgeous. Happy Gossip Girl Day!” Another commented: “Happy Gossip Girl Day Queen B. I hope one day you and Blake Lively will reunite.”

As for Lively, she did not post anything to commemorate her former TV show’s milestone. Hence, many of her fans left their greetings on her latest post about her participation at the Women’s March. In her Instagram post, Lively pointed out that she was not driven by hate to join the march, but by her desire to promote equality. Many fans complimented her gesture, and there were others who greeted her on the CW show’s special day. One fan wrote: “Happy Gossip Girl Day again to the Serena van der Woodsen.”

While it’s obvious that there are still many people who continue to cherish the two actresses’ work on the six-season series, it’s not the same thing for the two female leads. Ever since “Gossip Girl” wrapped up in 2012, Meester and Lively have never been spotted together. A Perez Hilton insider even revealed in 2013 that the onscreen BFFs were not really that friendly off-camera, so they decided to “stay as far away from each other as possible.”

Early this year however, Meester and Lively almost had an awkward meeting at the Instyle Golden Globes after-party. The two were spotted in the same room, and they were just a couple of steps from each other. Nevertheless, the reunion did not happen, disappointing many Blair and Serena fans who were longing for a friendly get-together between the two Hollywood celebs.
