‘Lethal Weapon’ Season 2, Episode 6: Riggs Reunites With His Childhood Friends

Riggs is reunited with two people from his past in next week’s installment of “Lethal Weapon.”

According to the synopsis for Season 2, episode 6 of the Fox series, Riggs (Clayne Crawford) runs into his childhood friends and comes to realize that they might be mixed up in the robbery-homicide case he and Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) are investigating.

As seen in the trailer for the episode, Riggs and his friend Jake (Linds Edwards) have a pretty intense reunion, which involves a car chase, a scuffle, and a failed apprehension. For reasons yet to be revealed, Riggs is supposed to arrest Jake. But when Jakes asks Riggs to let him go, the troubled cop surprisingly grants his request without a second thought.

As expected, Murtaugh is pissed about what Riggs did. “Why did you let him go?” Murtaugh asks his partner. “What do you owe this dude?”

Riggs answers, “When I was at my weakest, Jake saved my life.”

While it’s unclear how Jake exactly saved Riggs’ life in the past, TVLine revealed last August that Jake was Riggs’ best friend in Texas back in the day.

Riggs’ other childhood friend whom he is reunited with in the episode is Molly (Kristen Gotuskie). According The Hollywood Reporter, Molly is Jake’s husband. Molly moved from Texas to California so her 8-year-old son could be near his dad. Described as a likeable, radiant woman with an edge, Molly is a person who just wants to do the right thing.

Although Molly is married to Jake, executive producer Matt Miller told TVLine that Molly might eventually become a love interest for Riggs.“It doesn’t start out that way [but] It may evolve,” Miller said.

Elsewhere in the episode, Murtaugh finds a joint stashed in his kitchen. In an effort to bust either his son Roger (Dante Brown) or his daughter Riana (Chandler Kinney), Murtaugh brings the joint to Scorsese (Johnathan Fernandez) for testing.
