‘Lethal Weapon’ Spoilers: Clayne Crawford Teases Season 2 Dynamic Between Riggs, Palmer
“Lethal Weapon” star Clayne Crawford has teased what fans can expect from Riggs and Palmer’s relationship in Season 2 of the Fox series.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Crawford said that things are going to be “complicated” between Riggs (Crawford) and Palmer (Hilarie Burton) in the new season. While Crawford didn’t offer an exact explanation on why things won’t go smoothly between the LAPD detective and the DEA agent, the actor did say that the two are “very similar individuals who are married to their work and always go balls to the wall.”
As for how Riggs and Palmer will be reunited in the new season, executive producer Matt Miller revealed that Riggs will reach out to Palmer in hopes to continue their short-lived romance in Season 1.
“What happens is when Riggs starts to feel like he’s putting Miranda (Floriana Lima) behind him and he’s healthy and normal, he does all the things that a healthy person would do,” Miller told TV Guide. “He gets up and he tries to exercise and clean his trailer... but he doesn’t understand how to be normal. Part of his idea of what it means to be normal is to start dating again, so he takes a case that has a very thin connection to drugs and starts to think that there may be a DEA component in this. So he brings [Palmer] into a case when there’s really no reason for her to be in the case.”
“[But] when he goes to her, he realizes she’s been sort of relegated to the basement of the DEA because of her having assisted him at the end of Season 1,” Miller continued. “So he wants to win her back romantically, but then he also wants to help her career also, which he was kind of responsible for messing up.”
Burton is set to appear in Season 2, episode 2. But it’s unclear whether she’ll be returning for more episodes later in the season given her recently revealed pregnancy.
“Lethal Weapon” Season 2 premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
