Letitia Wright Injured While Filming A Stunt For 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever'
Actress Letitia Wright suffered minor injuries Wednesday while filming a stunt on the set of Marvel's "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" in Boston. The 27-year-old Guyanese-British actress received care at a hospital but was later released.
The incident during the overnight shoot was minor and will not have an impact on the film’s shooting schedule or the release date, Deadline reported, citing sources.
"Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon," a spokesperson for Marvel said in a statement earlier, Variety reported.
The stunt scene was being filmed in Boston but the primary shoot of the movie has been going on in Atlanta.
Wright will reprise her character of Shuri along with Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett. Ryan Coogler has returned to direct the sequel to 2018's blockbuster "Black Panther."
In the first installment, Wright played a role of a genius inventor, who was T'Challa's younger sister. The lead was portrayed by the late actor Chadwick Boseman. The actress also appeared in other Marvel Cinematic Universe movies including "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame."
The production of the sequel began in June 2021 and the plot has been kept under wraps.
Last month, the outlet reported British actress Michaela Coel joined the cast of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" but no further details of her character were revealed.
"Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" will be the third Marvel movie to release in 2022, after "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and "Thor: Love and Thunder," which are slated to release on March 25 and May 6, respectively.
The “Black Panther” sequel is slated to release on July 8, 2022.
Besides Marvel's upcoming movie, the actress will also feature in a crime mystery, "Death on the Nile," which is slated to release on Feb. 11, next year. The movie also stars Armie Hammer, Gal Gadot, Tom Bateman, Kenneth Branagh, and Rose Leslie.
She will also feature in Anthony Mandler's directorial, "Surrounded," while her "Silent Twins" directed by Agnieszka Smoczynska is currently under post-production.
