South Korean tech giant LG has announced a new smartphone that offers support for 5G but does not sell for a high price.
The new device, the LG K92, is a 5G-capable smartphone that starts at $359. The value-priced handset comes equipped with an able mid-range processor, ample memory for multitasking, enough storage space for media and files, a decent camera setup, a wide display designed to let users enjoy games and videos on the go and more.
The new LG K92 5G reflects the company's plans to make mobile devices exciting again. Indeed, while the device comes in a very familiar form, its low price coupled with its support for 5G just might make it a hit among early adopters who aren't keen on parting with a lot of money.
It also marks a departure from LG's performance in recent years. The company had grown a reputation for creating interesting smartphones, such as dual-display devices like the LG G8, a stunning single-screen top-tier called the LG Velvet and a quirky dual-screen device called the LG Wing.
All of these offer great specs at quite high prices. The new LG K92, however, is very different from them. Here's a quick look at its specs and features.
Innards
The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 5G chipset, similar to the one in the upcoming OnePlus Nord N10 5G. This is backed by 6GB of RAM. It also comes with 128GB of internal storage (99GB usable), which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card.
Camera
At the back of the device is a quad-camera setup comprised of a 64MP main sensor, 5MP Ultra Wide Angle lens, 2MP Depth sensor and 2MP Macro lens. At the front is a 16MP selfie camera.
Other details
The device has a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a punch hole for the selfie cam. It runs on Android 10, has a 4,000 mAh battery, has NFC and has a USB-C port for charging and wired headphones. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and boasts stereo speakers with LG's 3D Sound engine.
LG said the K92 5G smartphone will be available at AT&T, Cricket Wireless and UScellular soon. It will be sold starting at $359, with promotions varying per network partner.
