LG Unveiling Two New G7 Variants At IFA 2018
LG Electronics is gearing up for the launch of its two new smartphones at IFA 2018. The new devices are said to be variants of the LG G7 ThinQ, which was introduced during the first quarter of this year.
LG told South Korean news outlet Yonhap Tuesday that it is going to showcase two new editions of the G7 flagship at IFA 2018 in Berlin. The event is scheduled to kick off on Friday, Aug. 31, and it is set to end on Sept. 5.
According to the tech company, the new versions of the G7 are aimed at consumers who prefer simpler devices. The models are named LG G7 One and LG G7 Fit, and they will likely sport the same design as the G7 ThinQ.
The LG G7 One is LG’s Android One handset. Android One is the unmodified Android OS, so this phone will come with fewer preinstalled applications. It will also support monthly security updates that Google is rolling out.
On the other hand, the LG G7 Fit is the toned-down version of the G7 ThinQ in terms of camera technology. The flagship phone featured two 16-megapixel lenses on its back. Contrariwise, the G7 Fit is debuting with a single 16-megapixel rear camera. Both have an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front.
LG confirmed that the two new G7 editions are going to be equipped with super-bright displays that are clear even when used outdoors. And just like their parent phone, the G7 One and G7 Fit have the DTS:X technology that offers vibrant realistic sound.
LG’s new Android handsets are also designed to be resistant to both water and dust to a certain extent. They have the IP68 certification. In addition, they are tough since the U.S. Department of Defense gave them the MIL-STD 810G certification.
Other details about the LG G7 One and LG G7 Fit are expected to be disclosed at IFA 2018. The company is also announcing the prices of the two new smartphones at the same event.
