Liam Payne Fires Back Against ‘Oasis’ Singer Noel Gallagher Over One Direction Comments
One Direction band member Liam Payne speaks up over Noel Gallagher’s comments about the band.
The “Oasis” singer has a tendency to be very candid during interviews with magazines or shows. In his recent interview with Esquire, the musician made a scathing remark about One Direction and other stars. Gallagher explained how fame has been wasted on most artists today and claimed that nobody really cares about the current pop stars' activities. He then went on to name several artists, which includes the four member band.
He told Esquire, “Does anybody give a f--- about what any of these current pop stars are up to? Who gives a s--- what f------ One Direction do? … all of them in rehab by the time they’re 30 … Who gives a s--- what Ellie Goulding is up to? Really? Adele, what? … Nobody cares!”
Soon after details of the “Oasis” singer’s interview came out, Payne told BBC Radio 1 that he met Gallagher on the day that the Esquire story was released, Billboard reported. The One Direction band member commented that he had no idea about the interview and how he and Gallagher had even exchanged greetings on that day. He added, “The next day I read the story and thought, 'How sad is that?' He completely dissed us. Nice to diss your fans, isn't it?"
Payne also shared during his BBC Radio 1 interview that he was a big “Oasis” fan and that the recent events made him “sad” considering that Gallagher’s band “genuinely led [him] to a path of singing.” He continued, "They don't think before they speak. You never know who was a fan of your music. Especially when you were as big as they were. Do it with grace. Good old Noel, bless him."
Meanwhile, the four member band comprised of Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Niall Horan recently marked off some of the group’s last performances prior One Direction’s hiatus. However, One Direction promised their loyal fans that more things will come given their upcoming break.
One Direction’s extended break is set to happen in March 2016.
