Lil Nas X addressed the critics who said the music video for his song "Montero" wasn't appropriate for kids.

Lil Nas X dropped the official music video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" over the weekend. However, it received intense backlash from the critics with many saying it was immoral and inappropriate for kids.

The controversial video co-directed by Lil Nas X and Tanu Muino is filled with biblical and Ancient Greek references. One scene features the artist sliding down a pole to Hell to seduce the devil and giving Satan a lap dance. Lil Nas X had enough of the criticisms and clapped back by saying the song was never intended for children in the first place, Entertainment Tonight reported.

"Showed my 3 month old niece the call me by your name video and she said 'uncle that was quite the stupendous visual, why in heavens would any individual be enraged over such a sensational showpiece' i’m gonna go cry yall," he wrote sarcastically.

He also addressed a netizen's tweet showing a video of him singing with children. The online user said, "The system is targeting kids," before adding, "Lil Nas X's fanbase is mostly children. They did the same thing with Miley Cyrus after Hannah Montana."

"There was no system involved. I made the decision to create the music video. I am an adult. I am not gonna spend my entire career trying to cater to your children. That is your job," the author of the children's book "C is for Country" replied.

Lil Nas X's also received support from other online netizens who criticized his music simply because his core audience on social media includes children by reminding them that it's not his obligation to raise other people's kids with his craft.

"Lil nas x is an adult and can do whatever he pleases, and as of now has admitted that he literally made the idea for the video. Don't blame ADULT celebrities for posting something that wasn't made for your CHILDREN," one commented.

"My mom didn't rely on celebs to raise me," another supporter wrote.

"Can y’all raise your damn kids instead of relying on celebrities to do so," a third user added.
