  • Linda Hamilton feels she will not return for the upcoming "Terminator" movies
  • She is happy to leave her character with "Dark Fate"
  • "Dark Fate" lost more than $100 million at the box office

The fans were excited to see the return of Linda Hamilton in the “Terminator” franchise with the new movie “Terminator: Dark Fate.” The movie received good reviews from the audiences as well as the critics, making it the first movie in the franchise in nearly three decades to have a fresh rating on the review site Rotten Tomatoes. But the movie turned out to be a dud at the box office and lost tons of money after its release.

So, what is the future of the franchise? Will Hamilton return for another movie? Well, she has finally answered that particular question.

Speaking in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the 63-year-old actress revealed that she will not be returning to the franchise again and has left Sarah Connor behind for good. The star further stated that she would be really happy to never return and would love to end her journey with “Dark Fate.”

The “Missing In America” star also explained how some people would come to her and say that people do not go to watch a movie nowadays, that is why the film bombed. Hamilton was also surprised how audiences reacted to the movie even after good reviews.

“I would really appreciate maybe a smaller version where so many millions are not at stake. Today’s audience is just so unpredictable. It should definitely not be such a high-risk financial venture, but I would be quite happy to never return. So, no, I am not hopeful because I would really love to be done,” Hamilton said.

One of the main reasons for the film’s debacle was the opening scene where James Cameron decided to kill John Connor and focus on how Sarah’s life took a turn after her son’s death. The fans were not happy to see John’s death but Hamilton feels that it was the most important part of the story which helped in creating an amazing plot for Sarah’s return to the scene.

The three-time Golden Globe nominee also stated that all the Hollywood franchises should try new things and come up with some exciting new stories.

“I would like that to be the nature of franchises where it’s not just the same story retold each time. I just think it’s much more interesting to launch from a new place,” Hamilton said.

The movie earned more than $260 million at the global box office at a production budget of $185 million. “Dark Fate,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes in pivotal roles, lost more than $100 million during its theatrical run.
