Lindsay Lohan Set To Play Elizabeth Taylor In First Role Since Legal Troubles

Lindsay Lohan is set to make her return to the movie screen! She will play Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie, Liz and Dick. The movie will focus on Taylor's love affair with Richard Burton.

I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor, Lohan said in a statement. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.

We have wanted Lindsay from day one, executive producer Larry Thompson told E! News in an exclusive interview. She had a lot in her life that was going on. We needed to give her time to take care of her business, and while we negotiated the deal for her we prayed for her-and wonderfully she has behaved. She's cleared herself and we're ready to start this movie.

Thompson is right that Lohan had a lot going on in her personal life. For the past several years Lohan has been dealing with many legal cases surrounding herself. She has been in and out of jail, rehab, community service and court.

We truly feel that Lindsay Lohan is perfect for Elizabeth Taylor for our movie. I think Lindsay-who is very gifted-deserved another chance, Thompson said. We never, of three pages of 'what if's' in the negotiation, there never was 'what if she can't act.' We know she can act.

The movie is set to star filming in June and will air on the network in October.

This will be Lohan's first movie since 2009's Labor Pains. Lohan has since appeared in many guest roles on TV shows including Glee and Saturday Night Live.

Although Judge Stephanie Sautner has told Lohan to focus on her work and stop partying when she let her off of formal probation last month, Lohan is not in the clear yet. The Liz and Dick actress is being accused of assaulting an employee at a night club in Hollywood.

Two weeks ago, an employee at Smoke and Mirrors night club on the Sunset Strip accused Lohan of assaulting her after she talked to a man in Lohan's group. The employee said that Lohan pushed and shoved her. Lohan is claiming that she was not even at the club that night, but at home catching up on the Showtime series Homeland. There are witnesses that say they saw Lohan at the club and witnesses that said they did not.

Just last week, it was reported that Lohan returned to the club and got in another argument with a patron. Lohan reportedly came to the club with a friend and was the passenger in a car that hit another car while pulling in. After the incident Lohan called her dad, Michael Lohan, and he showed up and brought Lohan into the club, where they talked for several hours. When it was time to leave, a patron at the club made a snide remark to Lohan and she yelled back, shut the f**k up. Lohan got a drink thrown in her face and her dad grabbed her and they left.
