Lindsey Stirling Withdrawing From ‘DWTS’ Due To Rib Injury?
She is the current front0runner after scoring a perfect 40 points during week 6 of the “Dancing With the Stars” competition, but Lindsey Stirling could now be forced to withdraw from the show after suffering from a painful injury.
According to TMZ, Lindsey was rushed to the hospital on Sunday after a rapid dance move during rehearsal ended with her suffering from a blunt rib injury and possible separation. According to the website the pain is so immense for the violinist that it could force her to bow out of tonight’s live episode, which would also mean the pair would potentially be forced to forfeit the whole competition.
Neither Lindsey nor Mark have taken to social media to post about their status on the show.
Whether or not the pair would be forced to leave the competition completely is questionable however, as other teams have previously suffered through similar injuries, and rehearsal footage was used for the judges to base their scores on. Back in 2009, during the show’s 8th season, Melissa Rycroft injured her own rib and suffered a hairline fracture as well during rehearsal. The judges scored rehearsal footage of her and partner Tony Dovolani from earlier in the week instead, and it was one of the lowest scores the two received during that season. However, they did not forfeit and were able to remain in the competition, eventually placing 3rd overall.
It’s unclear if the rules have since changed for the teams and they are now required to forfeit if they miss a performance.
If Lindsey and Mark are forced to withdraw from the competition, it will be a devastating blow for them after a season that has often seen them at the top of judge’s leaderboard, along with Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold. While they have only scored one perfect 40, they have also received marks as high as 28, 26, and 27 from the judges, with their lowest score of the competition coming in Week 2, when they received 21 points for their Quickstep.
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
