Linkin Park Continues To Write 'New Music' Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Dave Farrell, a member of Linkin Park, revealed that the band has been working on some ideas for creating new music in the upcoming months. The band has not created new music since the death of Chester Bennington in 2017.

The 43-year-old musician revealed recently that the iconic band has been creating a lot of new music in recent times, but the sessions have been put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Various places in the U.S. are in a state of lockdown to prevent the spread of the disease.

While making an appearance on the episode of “Dan Really Likes Wine,” Farrell explained how music is helping him create his own space inside the house.

“For us, with the band, we have been kinda writing and doing that before this all started (pandemic). So casually at this point, we are doing Zoom meetings to eat lunch together and say, ‘Hi,’” Farrell said.

Farrell, who is considered to be one of the best bassists in the industry, also explained that he has been playing a lot of drums lately.

“I have been playing a lot of drums, just to do something new – I have been doing that for the last year, year and a half, and purposely making as much noise as possible to create my own space in the house,” Farrell said.

Linkin Park is composed of six members – Farrell, Bennington, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, and Rob Bourdon. The band released their first album “Hybrid Theory” in the year 2000. The album turned out to be a massive success and sold 4.8 million copies during its debut year. The band was nominated for three Grammys for “Hybrid Theory” and won Best Hard Rock Performance for the song “Crawling.”

Linkin Park worked on seven studio albums together. The band received six Grammy nominations and won two. Apart from them, the group has six American Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four MTV Music Video Awards, and three World Music Awards to its name.

The band’s last album, “One More Light,” was released in 2017.
