A recent data revealed that Lionel Messi is still better than Cristiano Ronaldo now that they are both in their 30s.

In modern soccer, last decade was dictated by eternal rivals Messi and Ronaldo. The two have broken multiple records and were able to convince the world that they are the best players to ever play the game.

Undeniably, both Messi and Ronaldo still dominate their competition. In fact, according to stats provided by reputable WhoScored.com, a list of the best players in Europe's top five leagues this season for every age between 17-36 reveal that Messi and Ronaldo are still the best players in their age bracket (30-year-old and above).

Messi: Rating – 8.65

Now 32, Messi is evidently still one of the best players in the world. Despite not hitting the back of the net in four consecutive games (a streak he hasn’t done in over six years), the Argentine is still contributing but only in a different way.

After scoring 14 times, recording 12 assists in just 18 starts and having been involved in 26 LaLiga goals, Messi is still viewed as an efficient player. To put this into perspective, Messi is even way ahead of Ronaldo in ratings despite the Portuguese star’s impressive goalscoring performances for Juventus.

Ronaldo: Rating - 7.91

Most soccer stars in history start the end of their carrer by the age of 35. It's very rare for soccer players to play at an elite level during their mid 30’s. But “CR7” begs to disagree. He has been scoring goals like a youngster since Messi won his 6th Ballon d’Or award, no other player in Europe scored as many goals as Ronaldo.

And though he is rated below Messi in their age bracket, Ronaldo has statistically been the sixth best player in the world this season.

Indeed, Messi and Ronaldo can still prolong their reign this year. However, the two legendary players are currently riding a completely different route.

Ronaldo has been breaking a list of records in Italian soccer and is bound to break even more records this 2020.

Messi on the other hand, is playing one of the worst seasons of his career in LaLiga. Latest on the Barcelona-Messi drama states that the club President Josep Maria Bartomeu reportedly hired a social media company named I3 Ventures to criticize Messi and other soccer greats. And in the process, clean his own image amid all the controversies plaguing Barca.
