A youngster who is being compared to Lionel Messi said he is not surprised about scoring many goals.
Before the lockdown, Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland was playing an incredible season in Bundesliga. The Norwegian attacker has emerged as one of the most talented players in Europe having scored a total of 40 goals in 33 games.
Many consider Haaland as the most-sought after teenager in soccer today and the biggest clubs already got him in their radar. In a recent interview with “FourFourTwo,” Haaland revealed his ambitious side and addressed the recognitions he has been receiving thus far.
According to Haaland, scoring many goals is something he has been doing for all his life and it doesn’t surprise him at all. He even jokingly said that the devil has been jealous of him because of that, Besoccer.com reported
"I'm addicted to scoring goals. I know the devil has been jealous about me my whole life. I wasn't surprised at scoring so many goals because I've been doing that all my life. It is what I wanted to do when I was older. It's what I do. I always knew that I would be a good player, but things have gone fast. I like that speed!" Haaland said.
Among the clubs interested in Haaland, Real Madrid has been frequently mentioned in recent reports. However, the 19-year-old sent them a bad news as he revealed that at this point, the feeling is not mutual.
"I don’t talk about that. I can talk about me and my club although it always nice when clubs are interested. It means you’ve done something right. Winning the Champions League with Borussia Dortmund would be a very nice dream for me,” Haaland explained.
It didn’t take long for pundits to notice Haaland’s exceptional talent inside the pitch. In fact, he has been viewed by many as a future Messi. Haaland once held a ratio of 1.07 per game beating Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer Cristiano Ronaldo’s 1.03 goals per game at Bernabéu. In the process, he also surpassed Messi’s LaLiga all-time record of 433 goals in 469 appearances which gives the Argentinean a ratio of 0.92 in domestic action.
But because of his height and goal scoring attributes, Haaland is now being compared to Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic. However, Haaland dismissed the idea and insisted that they might be both strikers but he has a different game.
"We're both strikers and we're both tall. But we have a different game. It's hard to compare us. I am who I am,” Haaland pointed out.
