Lisa Loring, the star of "The Addams Family" sitcom, which first aired in September 1964 has died at the age of 64.
Loring, who played Wednesday Addams for both seasons of the show, died Saturday. Her friend Laurie Jacobson penned the news of her demise in a Facebook post on Sunday, Deadline reported.
Loring was reportedly on life-support after suffering "a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure." Jacobson said Loring was taken off the machine after three days of showing no signs of improvement.
Describing her as a "ton of fun," Loring's friend reflected on her legacy in the world of entertainment. Apart from being a pop culture phenomenon and an excellent entertainer, Jacobson wrote, Loring was a "loving mother," who left behind a "wealth of humor, affection, and love" as a legacy for her friends and family.
Lisa Loring's daughters
Loring is survived by her two daughters--Marianne Stevenson and Vanessa Foumberg.
"She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Vanessa as saying.
Vanessa was born to Loring and her childhood sweetheart, Farrell Foumberg, who wed each other in 1973. Loring was 15 at the time, and gave birth after a year of marriage. The actress and Foumberg went their separate ways the same year.
She entered wedlock again with actor Doug Stevenson in 1981, and they became parents to Marianne before going separate ways in 1983. Loring was married two more times--to adult movie star Jerry Butler, whom she divorced in 1992, and Graham Rich, whom she married in 2003 and divorced in 2014.
The following year she appeared as Miss Rhonda in "Doctor Spine."
Friends of Loring took to Facebook to express their love for her after the news of her death went public.
"It is with a VERY BROKEN HEART that I have to announce that my very dear friend Lisa Loring passed away, she slipped into a coma a few days ago and her family made the decision to take her off life support last night," read one such post, by the owner of an Arizona-based record store that Loring frequented.
"I Love you and I'm gonna miss you my little Wednesday friend, I'm speechless, my heart is shattered right now If any of you ever got to meet her at my store, you know she was a very special person, please remember her in your prayers," the post continued.
