Lisa Marie Presley Dead At 54; Michael Jackson's Ex-Wife Dies Of Cardiac Arrest

Lisa Marie Presley, the first wife of Michael Jackson and the only child of Elvis Presley, has died. She was 54.

The singer-songwriter passed away Thursday at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, hours after going into cardiac arrest earlier in the day at her Calabasas, California, home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Her mother, Priscilla Presley, announced the news via a statement to the outlet, saying, "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us."

"She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment," the actress added.

An unnamed source with direct knowledge of the incident told TMZ that Lisa Marie's housekeeper found her unresponsive in her bedroom Thursday morning.

As the housekeeper made the discovery, Lisa Marie's ex-husband, Danny Keough, arrived home after taking their children to school and performed CPR until the paramedics came. Danny and Lisa had been living together.

Lisa Marie was then rushed to the hospital and was put in the intensive care unit, where she was placed on life support with a temporary pacemaker. She was in an induced coma and "in critical condition" before she passed away.

Two days prior to her death, Lisa Marie and her mother attended the 2023 Golden Globes on Tuesday night. Austin Butler, who portrayed her father in Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis," won best actor in a drama motion picture.

Lisa Marie was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on Feb. 1, 1968, nine months after her parents tied the knot. At the age of 4, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother Priscilla following her parents' divorce in 1973.

Four years later, her father Elvis died at 42 reportedly due to heart disease caused by long-term use of drugs and unhealthy eating habits.

Lisa Marie, who was 9 at the time, became the "joint heir" to her father's estate along with her grandfather Vernon Presley and great-grandmother Minnie Mae Hood Presley.

Lisa Marie became the sole heir and also inherited her father's Graceland residence after Vernon's and Minnie's deaths in 1979 and 1980, respectively, according to People.

In 1988, Lisa Marie tied the knot with musician Keough, with whom she shares two children, 33-year-old Riley and Benjamin, who passed away two years ago at 27. The former couple divorced in 1994 after five years of marriage.

But Lisa Marie found love again in Michael Jackson. They were married from 1994 to 1996.

She was also married to actor Nicolas Cage from 2002 to 2004 and to guitarist and music producer Michael Lockwood from 2006 to 2021.

Working with producers including Glen Ballard and T Bone Burnett, Lisa Marie recorded three studio albums as well as singles that featured duets with her dad.
