The coronavirus crisis continues across the world and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expanded the state of emergency to the entire country. This has impacted the anime and manga industry as several anime series and movies face indefinite delays.

“I decided to put all prefectures under the state of emergency to curb infections in respective areas and especially to keep the movement of people to a minimum heading into the Golden Week holidays,” Abe said, according to Kyodo News.

The global coronavirus death toll stands at 183,489, according to the latest data collected by Johns Hopkins University. More than 2.6 million people are tested positive for COVID-19.
