Listen to Coldplay and Rihanna in ‘Princess of China’ [AUDIO]
Coldplay and Rihanna's collaboration, Princess of China, has leaked one week ahead of the band's upcoming release, Mylo Xyloto.
Princess of China has a little bit of everything, mixing Europop flavors with the familiar Coldplay chants.
Her bit on our record is my favorite bit . . . when the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it, Martin said of Rihanna's collaboration in a September interview with MTV.
I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we've been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music, he added.
While Princess of China has no official release date, the song will most likely be on repeat for many Coldplay fans.
In June, Coldplay released Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall, the first single off of Mylo Xyloto. The new album's second single, Paradise, was released in September.
Mylo Xyloto will have some big shoes to fill.
The album marks Coldplay's first since 2008's Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which went on to sell more than 9 million copies worldwide. The band's previous releases, X&Y, A Rush of Blood to the Head and Parachutes have sold 11, 12 and 7.5 million copies respectively.
Coldplay, who first announced the completion of their album on Sept. 9, is gearing up for a European tour. The band will kick things off in Spain on Oct. 26, followed by dates in London, Paris, Berlin and other cities.
Mylo Xyloto arrives in stores and on iTunes on Oct. 24.
