‘A Little Daytime Drama’ Hallmark Movie Premiere: Trailer, Synopsis, Cast
Hallmark Channel’s Summer Nights continues with the premiere of the network’s newest film, “A Little Daytime Drama,” starring Jen Lilley and Ryan Paevey.
The film will definitely be a treat for Hallmark fans as they are sure to recognize both of the film’s stars, who actually came from daytime soap backgrounds. Lilley portrayed Maxie Jones on “General Hospital” in 2011 and 2012, before moving on to the role of Theresa Donovan on “Days of Our Lives.” Paevey joined “General Hospital” one year after Lilley’s departure as Detective Nathan West, Maxie’s love interest, until 2018, when his character was killed off the show.
The two also previously worked together on Hallmark, in the film, “Harvest Love,” and have each also starred in several other projects as well. Lilley’s previous films have also included the Hallmark channel films “A Dash of Love,” “Eat, Play, Love,” “Yes, I Do,” “Mingle All The Way,” “Winter Love Story,” “Paris, Wine and Romance,” “Love, Unleashed” and “Snowkissed.” She also starred in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries films “Angel Falls: A Novel Holiday” and “USS Christmas.” Paevey, meanwhile, has starred in the Hallmark Channel films “Unleashing Mr. Darcy,” “Marrying Mr. Darcy,” “From Friend to Fiancé,” “A Summer Romance,” “Christmas at the Plaza,” “Matching Hearts,” “A Timeless Christmas” and “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart,” as well as the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Film “Hope At Christmas.”
What will happen in this film though, which marks their second project together? Considering the title and the fact that the stars both have a little bit of experience in daytime TV, plenty of drama and romance will be in store.
“Maggie (Lilley) is the head writer on a daytime soap drama whose declining ratings leave it in danger of being cancelled,” a synopsis reads. “Alice (Linda Dano), the creator and producer of the show, wants to retire and hopes to pass the baton to Maggie. Wanting to boost ratings and save the show, Alice plans to bring back fan-favorite actor Darin (Paevey)--who also happens to be Maggie’s ex-boyfriend.”
Naturally, this poses a problem, because Maggie will need to do whatever it takes to get him back to the show, even though things didn’t end well for them,
“When Darin exited the show to star in an ill-fated play, their relationship ended on a sour note, so Maggie wrote out his character,” the synopsis continues. “Now, she must convince Darin to return. Will they be able to set aside their old, hurt feelings and work together to save the show, and their careers, in the process?”
“A Little Daytime Drama” premieres Saturday, Aug. 21 at 9 p.m. EDT on Hallmark Channel.
