The LIV Golf Invitational Series continues to lure away some of the PGA Tour's best players. Despite the controversy surrounding the Saudi-backed league, some of the world’s top golfers have agreed to compete for their share of hundreds of millions of dollars in prize money.

Seven events are on the LIV Golf schedule for the 2022 regular season, starting with the tournament at London’s Centurion Golf Club from June 9-11. Each event will feature 48 players and a total purse of $20 million in individual prize money. The golfers will also be split into 12 teams, and $5 million in total prize money will be awarded to the top three groups of four players.

The individual first-place prize in each tournament is $4 million. Second-place gets $2.125 million, followed by $1.5 million for third place. Fourth place gets the final seven-figure prize, earning a $1.05 million purse.

The prize for last place is $120,000.

The first-place team will be awarded $3 million. A $1.5 million prize goes to the second-place team. The third-best team in each tournament is awarded $500,000.

The 2022 LIV Golf season ends with the Team Championship at Miami’s Trump National Doral from Oct. 27-30.

An individual champion for the series will be crowned at the end of the regular season. The winner gets $18 million. The second and third-place golfers for the season make $8 million and $4 million, respectively.

The top golfers on the LIV series will make nine figures, no matter how they perform on the court. Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau are believed to be making well over $400 million combined just for playing on the new tour.
