Live! Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah -- Coverage of Las Vegas (July 23, 2011)
Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino will be the scene of one of the most anticipated boxing fights of the year.
Amir Khan (25-1, 17KO), of Bolton, England, puts his light welterweight belt on the line against Zab Judah, of Brooklyn, (41-6, 28 KO) on Saturday night. The fight is expected to start at about 10:45 eastern time (3:45 BST).
Khan, 24, has perhaps two high-profile fights awaiting him in the coming months, so the bout with Judah is vital. In December, Khan is expected to fight Erik Morales (51-7, 35KO) in which Khan is expected to move up to the welterweight division. The following fight could be against Floyd Mayweather, considered amongst the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Judah, 33, presents a legitimate challenge for Khan, despite being a 5-1 underdog. Judah has very fast hands, and is a smart fighter. He probably has more power than Khan, and is skilled at countering.
Khan is considered among the most promising fighters in the world. He has extremely quick hands, and is in excellent condition. Khan wears down opponents with multiple hard shots, and is capable of landing good shots towards late rounds.
Judah is trained by one of the greatest defensive boxers of his generation: Pernell Whitaker. Khan is trained by Freddie Roach, at this point probably the most recognizable and respected trainer in boxing.
