‘Live!’ Co-Hosts Michael Strahan And Kelly Ripa Have Not Talked Since Announcement He’s Leaving
Michael Strahan and Kelly Ripa have not uttered a word to each other since Tuesday, reports claim. Ripa is said to have skipped town for a vacation with husband Mark Consuelos shortly after news broke that Strahan was leaving “Live! With Kelly and Michael” to work as a full-time correspondent for ABC's “Good Morning America.”
Sources told E! Online that, as of right now, they still have not talked to each other. “He has no bad blood towards her at this point and is looking forward to start his new chapter with his new team,” a source said.
According to the New York Daily News, Strahan has repeatedly tried calling his “Live!” co-host. “He’s reached out but there’s been no response,” the source said. Strahan and Ripa won’t come face-to-face with each other until next week when she returns to work.
Even though the former football player hasn’t been able to privately connect with Ripa, he has been continually praising her over the past few days. On Wednesday’s episode of the syndicated talk show, Strahan addressed his departure and thanked Ripa for being an “unbelievable partner.”
“I am so thankful to her and the entire team,” he told the audience. “I am extremely grateful for the amazing support I’ve received from all of the fans. My time with ‘Live! With Kelly and Michael’ has been transformative, and my departure will be bittersweet.”
While co-hosting “Good Morning America” Thursday, the 44-year-old former athlete again reflected on his time working with Ripa. “I’m going to miss everybody at ‘Live!’ I’ve been sitting next to Kelly every day and having a lot of fun on that show for the last four years,” he said. “I’m very thankful for her — to her — because I learned so much from her.”
As previously reported, Ripa is said to be “livid” over Strahan’s exit because she found out in a post-show meeting Tuesday at the same time a press release was being sent to the public.
