‘Logan’ Movie: Meet The New Characters In Hugh Jackman’s Final ‘Wolverine’ Film
Hugh Jackman’s last film as Wolverine is almost here. Releasing on March 3, the Australian actor will portray the Marvel superhero one last time in “Logan.”
The third and final film in the “Wolverine” franchise, “Logan” will feature some of the characters you’ve seen before such as Professor X (Patrick Stewart) and Caliban (Stephen Merchant), but there will also be a few new faces. While previous “X-Men” films have been heavy on mutants, “Logan” won’t feature many, but there is a big one to get familiar with.
Before heading out to watch “Logan,” check out everything you need to know about the new characters below:
Zander Rice
Played by Richard E. Grant, Zander Rice is the surgical head of the Transigen project whose father was killed by Logan in “X-Men: Apocalypse.” The Transigen’s goal is wipe out all mutants in order to advance their own ideals. According to director James Mangold, Rice is the “puppet master behind [Donald Pierce] and the Reavers, and has a much larger role in the sense that he’s actually the kind of brilliant mind that is trying to grow mutants.”
Donald Pierce
Transigen’s head of security and head of the Reavers, Donald Piece (Boyd Holbrook) is an extremely ruthless cyborg with a twisted sense of humor. Pierce, who has a relationship with the institution that created X-23, is on a mission to retrieve her. According to Mangold, Pierce is also a “big fan of Wolverine” and “just wants to hang out with him.”
Laura Kinney/X-23
A clone of Wolverine, X-23 is very much like Logan and was created from his blood. At the end of “X-Men: Apocalypse,” the Essex Corporation could be seen retrieving Logan’s blood. Transigen eventually acquired some of Logan’s DNA and began making clones to be used as weapons. Like Wolverine, the 11-year-old X-23 has regenerative healing as well as retractable claws. Played by Dafne Keen, the director said “if anyone could steal a movie from [Jackman], it would be Dafne.”
