Festival Tips

With eight stages and more than 170 bands from all over the world scheduled to hit the stage at one point or another during Lollapalooza, organization is key for any music lover looking to enjoy the festival.

-The festival grounds open at 11 a.m. CDT and close at 10 p.m. CDT each day. For festival-goers looking to be some of the first people inside or hoping to see a specific artist, may want to consider arriving at the festival grounds prior to the opening or set time. Check out the Lollapalooza lineup and schedule times here.

-Be sure to pack sunscreen, the forecast on Weather.com is predicting temperatures in the low to high 80s.

-Drink plenty of water! You will be allowed to enter the park with no more than two factory sealed bottles of water and can refill them for free at the various water filling stations located on the festival grounds. Considering the high temperatures paired with standing in crowds, walking on foot and participating in other festivities, too much fun and not enough water could result in heat exhaustion, stay hydrated.

-For quicker entry, leave your bag at home. Festival attendees who opt out of carrying bags with them into the grounds will be allowed to go through the No Bag Express Lane at the entrance.

-Along with your credit cards bring cash or expect to pay ATM fees. You will not be allowed to enter Lollapalooza with any outside food or drinks with the exception of water. Only some of the vendors in the festival accept credit cards but you can register for Lolla Cashless when you activate your wristband. You can then use your wristband as a form of payment should you opt out of carrying cash or credit and debit cards.

-Plan out your travel. There are several ways to get to Lollapalooza including public transportation, shuttles, taxis, bicycles, Uber and diving. Uber is actually the official rideshare partner of Lollapalooza. New riders can download the app and enter the code LOLLACHI17 for their first ride free up to $15.

-Lollapalooza isn’t like other festivals where lodging is available on the festival grounds, instead, you will need to book a hotel if you are coming from out of town. Those who decided to wait last minute to book have the option of finding their own place to stay, booking festival suggested hotels or trying their luck with an Airbnb.

No matter what you decide, remember to be safe and have fun. For more information on Lollapalooza, head on over to the official website.
