Loni Love Talks The Importance Of ‘Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards’ At 2016 Red Carpet
The Oscars might be the biggest night for the stars, but for those behind the scenes, the “Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards” is an event not to be missed.
The annual award show, held at Paramount Studios in Hollywood Saturday evening, recognizes make-up artists and hair stylists for their outstanding work in motion pictures, television, commercials and live television. "The Real" star Loni Love, host of the 2016 event, walked the red carpet before the show kicked off to explain the importance of the award show, which honors the hard working, yet often overlooked industry professionals.
“I am honored to [host] because make-up and hair play such a big role and I think we forget about that,” Love told International Business Times reporter Monica Castillo. “We can be tree monsters and these people turn us from being tree monsters to these beautiful people. And, you know, we kind of take them for granted. So, this is a good way to honor them. I’m really happy to be able to host it.”
Over 20 awards will be handed out Saturday night, including a Lifetime Achievement Award for “The Hunger Games” make-up artist Ve Neill and “Insurgent” hair stylist Yolanda Toussieng. Actor Johnny Depp will be presenting the coveted award, a moment that Love is looking forward to.
“I want to meet Johnny Depp,” she laughed.
