Lonzo Ball-Less Hornets Target To Snag Another Win Against Jazz

The Utah Jazz are looking to rebound from a loss at home, while the Charlotte Hornets try to book another win on Monday, January 23 at the Vivint Arena.
It will be the first regular-season series encounter for both teams.
They are coming off contrasting last assignments with the Jazz bowing to the Brooklyn Nets and the Hornets coming off a win over the Atlanta Hawks.
For the hosts, redemption is on their minds.
Kyrie Irving of the Nets scorched the Jazz with 48 points, more than making up for the absence of Kevin Durant who remains out with a knee injury.
"In the second half, we just weren't very focused on getting back and protecting the basket," Utah coach Will Hardy said. "We got a little bit wrapped up in trying to focus on the ball, and we let guys get behind us."
Jordan Clarkson led the way for the Jazz in the loss, finishing with 29 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
Lauri Markkanen backed up the Fil-American with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
The Jazz are scoring 117.5 points per outing, sixth in the league. They also boast of an offensive rating of 116.4, which is fourth in the NBA.
Defensively, Utah is allowing the opposition 116.6 per game, 22nd in the league. The Jazz have a defensive rating of 115.2.
On the other end, the Hornets will try to pull off another win, possibly without LaMelo Ball anew who has been listed as day-to-day.
Against the Hawks, Terry Rozier stepped up with 34 points five assists and four steals.
Supporting him was Mason Plumlee with a double-double performance of 25 points and 11 caroms.
"Obviously, Melo is our star player," Rozier said. "We definitely need him. It's definitely been our story all season, so we just try to work with what we've got and play the best basketball that we can."
The Hornets are scoring 112.6 points per game with an offensive rating of 109.5.
On defense, Charlotte is allowing opponents 118.9 points per contest with a rating of 115.9.
The Jazz are installed as heavy favorites to prevail with a -8 grade over the Hornets, who are at +8.
The moneyline for this match-up is -330 for Utah and +275 for Charlotte.
