- Donald Cerrone’s grandma hugged McGregor that got the crowd cheering for them
- Cerrone said that this isn’t his last fight and he’ll keep fighting
While the people are celebrating the victorious return of Conor McGregor to the octagon after 15 months of hiatus, it’s just right for him to celebrate the win that ended in a resounding fashion.
TMZ Sports reported that after his quick demolition of Donald Cerrone in their welterweight fight, the Irishman can now afford to break a smile and loosen up his hips just like how he unveiled his moves at Encore Nightclub in Las Vegas – not that far from T-Mobile Arena where the PPV took place.
With the crowd’s phones taking videos of the 31-year old mixed-martial artist, he showed some of his dance moves and did a bit of shadow-boxing that got the nod of the mob. Leaving the fight unscathed might have helped him enjoy the Vegas style-party.
McGregor only needed 40 seconds to announce his return to the UFC and the win was his first since his TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez in UFC 205 where he won the UFC Lightweight title in 2016. He also made the history books for being the first UFC fighter who’s won a KO at featherweight, lightweight, and welterweight.
He used his shoulder to bust the nose of the 36-year old Cerrone before unleashing a head kick to drop Cowboy down before flurry of punches forced referee Herb Dean to wave it off, awarding McGregor the win. "I'm so happy. I'm very proud of that accomplishment,” said the Dublin-native per CBS Sports post. “UFC can strip fighters and give other fighters make believes belts but they can't give out knockout victories across multiple weight divisions. Etch my name in history one more time."
"I've never seen anything like that. He busted my nose and it started bleeding and I stepped back and he head kicked me," said the UFC veteran. Cowboy, though, made it clear that he’ll fight again after the loss. "I love this sport and I'm going to keep fighting."
The crowd cheered not just after the announcement of McGregor as the winner, but the scene where “The Notorious” and Jerry Cerrone, Cowboy’s grandma, hugged inside the octagon and exchanged pleasantries.
