Lori Vallow Update: New Felony Charges Filed, Chad Daybell's Property Searched Again Before Trial
Lori Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, have continued to stay in the news following the disappearance of Vallow's children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua "JJ" Vallow. After remains were located on Daybell's Idaho property, they have remained behind bars as they wait for their next court dates. Now, ahead of subsequent appearances before a judge, Vallow has been hit with new charges and Daybell's property has been searched yet again.
According to KTVB7, prosecutors have charged Vallow with two felony charges of conspiracy to commit alteration, destruction or concealment of evidence. As stated by the publication, the new charges allege that she was previously aware of Tylee and JJ's remains being located on Daybell's property.
Previously, she had also been charged with other felonies, including desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, along with misdemeanors for resisting or obstructing officers, criminal solicitation to commit a crime, and contempt of court.
As for the new search warrant obtained by police, law enforcement officials returned to Daybell's property on Monday. After arriving in both marked and unmarked vehicles around 1:15 p.m., they entered the residence and exterior buildings on the property, as reported by EastIdahoNews.com. Cameras were also seen being taken into the backyard before leaving around 2:50 p.m.
Previously, investigators had searched the same property on June 9 prior to Daybell being taken into custody. At this time, it remains unknown what prompted their return on Monday.
Daybell, who has been described as "a prolific Doomsday author, alleged cult leader and former gravedigger," has since appeared before a judge after the remains of Vallow's children were located on his property. At that time, he learned that his bond had been set at $1M. Since then, he has entered a not guilty plea and his attorney has made a specific request leading up to his trial.
Since being taken into custody, some who had previously been close to Daybell have spoken out about his "strange" behavior prior to the disappearance of Tylee and JJ. Not only have some said that he had "opened the doors of darkness," but others indicated that he had been convinced that he would avoid consequences for the alleged crimes.
Both Vallow and Daybell are being held on $1M bond and are set for preliminary hearings in July. However, Vallow is expected to make an initial appearance regarding the conspiracy to conceal evidence charges Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
