A group led by Magic Johnson and former baseball executive Stan Kastan has purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers for a whopping $2 billion.

The sale smashes the previous record, which was set when Stephen Ross bought the Miami Dolphins for $1.1 billion.

Owner Frank McCourt was forced to sell the Dodgers after a messy divorce cost him a fortune.

The price tag surprised many people who feel the team is not worth nearly as much as it was sold for.

Last year, Forbes gave a list of the most valuable sports teams, and the Dodgers were nowhere near the top.
