Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils Live Stream: Preview, Prediction, And Where To Watch Wednesday's Stanley Cup Finals Game
The Stanley Cup Finals open on Wednesday night from the Prudential Center between the New Jersey Devils and the Los Angeles Kings, two teams with very different cup histories.
Despite being a much younger team, the Devils have all the history. This is their fifth appearance in the Stanley Cup Final since they were founded in 1982. They are 3-1 in those cup appearances, all with surefire Hall-of-Famer Martin Brodeur between the pipes.
He is now in the twilight of his career, but the 39 year old looks spry as ever with a 12-5 record, a 2.04 goals against average and a .923 save percentage so far in these playoffs.
The Devils story this season is Brodeur's story. The goaltending great could hang up his pads very soon, and this could be his last opportunity for one more Stanley Cup ring.
The Kings are only in their second finals appearance in franchise history, despite the fact that Wayne Gretzky was a member of the Kings from age 28 to 35.
Gretzky was on the team during their only cup appearance in 1993, but they were easily dispatched 4-1 by a Montreal Canadiens team that had Patrick Roy patrolling the crease and Guy Carbonneau wearing the C.
The Kings this year don't have the greatest forward the game has ever seen, but they might have one of the most exciting young goaltenders in the game today in Jon Quick.
The fifth year player out of UMass, Amherst, Quick is 12-2 with a .946 save percentage and a 1.54 goals against average. His GAA and save percentage lead all goalies in the NHL playoffs.
The series rests in the hands and bulky pads of Quick and Brodeur. This is a battle of old vs. new, strength vs. experience, and speed vs. guile.
Where to watch: The game can be viewed online at FirstRowSports. It will also be broadcast nationally on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
Prediction: The Devils are at home, they are more veteran and more experienced in the playoffs and they are backstopped by a man with three rings. They will keep their composure and exploit some nervy mistakes from the Kings.
Predicted Score: New Jersey over Los Angeles 3-1
