Los Angeles TikTok Creators Facing Legal Action For A String Of Unsafe Parties
Two popular TikTok creators are facing charges over a series of parties in the Hollywood Hills. Creators Bryce Hall and Blake Gray are among four people facing charges leveled by Los Angeles city attorney Mike Feuer, accusing them of grossly violating LA’s public health guidelines.
“We allege that these hosts have been incredibly irresponsible with a highly infectious disease spreading,” Feuer said during a press conference announcing the charges. “These parties can be really out of control night clubs.”
Hall, Gray, and the others, Jianwei Bai and David Marvisi, allegedly held raucous parties repeatedly, defying complaints from neighbors and warnings from city leaders. They face as long as one year in prison and maximum fines of $2,000.
Feuer’s charges specifically referred to an Aug. 8 incident where police were called on one of these parties over a noise complaint. Hall and Gray were issued citations and told that parties violate the city’s COVID-19 guidelines.
Later on Aug. 14, police were called again after reports of gunshots. They found “several hundred” people celebrating Hall’s 21st birthda, though no guns were found.
“I want to make a clear point about the allegations against these two party house hosts: If you have a combined 19 million followers on TikTok, and in the middle of a public health crisis, you should be modeling great behavior and best practices rather than brazenly violating the law and posting videos about it as we allege happened here,” Feuer continued.
Hall and Gray are among the most popular creators on TikTok, with around 13.2 million and 5.9 million followers, respectively.
