Lose Belly Fat While You Sleep: 6 Ways To Do It
It is possible to lose belly fat without having to work out—and even while you sleep.
Diet experts say that weight loss is largely a factor of what you eat more than how you move. This statement does not diminish the importance of exercise, but is given only to point out that watching what you eat and changing your routines can also result in significant changes to your weight and fat loss journey.
1. Consume specific types of food
There are certain types of food that will help you lose weight while you sleep, such as citrus fruits, whole grains, legumes and dairy foods. The fiber and vitamin C in fruits help stimulate the body’s fat-burning ability, so eating a variety of these, as well as consuming fresh juices, will help. The proteins and complex carbohydrates in legumes, whole grains and dairy also take longer to digest and will, thus, burn more calories even without you having to move around.
2. Try nighttime fasting.
If you’re practicing intermittent fasting, schedule it so that you don’t consume anything at night. This allows your body to burn whatever is already stored from the day--and you won’t even notice is happening because you’re asleep.
3. Make your space smell like mint
Mint is a natural appetite suppressant, so you might want to burn a minty candle or diffuse peppermint or spearmint essential oil. Otherwise, a few drops of peppermint oil on your pillow and sheets will help greatly.
4. Take a hot shower before sleeping.
Hot showers before bedtime can do more than prepping your body for a relaxing evening. It can also help you lose belly fat by boosting the levels of oxytocin, which can stimulate fat burning.
5. Turn the heat down.
A study shows that cold temperatures help the body burn fat even while you sleep. Letting the cold air in or turning on the air conditioner will boost the effectiveness of the brown fat, which will help keep your body warm by burning the fat stores in your belly
6. Sleep early and get rid of gadgets before bedtime.
Taking your iPad to bed to help you sleep is not healthy at all and will result in poor sleep. In fact, a study found that kids who brought gadgets to bed were more likely to be overweight and obese than those who do not.
