'Lost Ark': 4 Essential Tips For Beginners
KEY POINTS
- "Lost Ark" is filled with systems and mechanics that may overwhelm players at first
- Avoid battling monsters in the open world unless necessary
- Skill points can be refunded and redistributed at any time
There’s plenty to experience in “Lost Ark,” but many players may be tempted to rush to the end game as soon as they can. Although this is possible, there are some things that all players should be aware of if they want to get the most out of their stay in Arkesia.
Here are a few tips to help beginners get their bearings straight in “Lost Ark.”
Take Every Sidequest
Throughout the early game, XP is mainly locked behind quests. Killing random mobs and clearing early dungeons yield very few experience points, which means players will have to proceed with the main storyline to have decent progress.
That said, be sure to take all of the sidequests in each of the areas. Not only do these side objectives take about a minute to complete, but most of them can be finished along the way to a main quest marker. Players can maximize their XP gains by hitting two birds with one stone at very little cost.
Complete Welcome Challenges
To the left of the mini-map is a Welcome Challenges button that opens up a menu with a list of objectives. These objectives are designed to guide players to important systems that may otherwise be left forgotten or unattended, such as the pet or trade skill systems.
These challenges also give players decent rewards like Silver or resources. Try to check the Welcome Challenges menu as often as possible to know more about the game.
Experiment with Skill Points
The skill points in the Skills menu can be freely reallocated at any time by pressing the minus icon on the right side of each ability. Feel free to experiment with different skills that suit specific playstyles more to get a better feel for a certain character class.
On a side note, it’s recommended to get at least two skills to Lvl. 10 as soon as possible instead of spreading points across multiple abilities. This frontloads damage into a few specific moves that will allow players to make skill rotations more easily for better DPS overall.
Play Dungeons on Hard Difficulty
Lastly, don’t forget to play the main quest dungeons on Hard mode as soon as they become available. These dungeons aren’t terribly difficult, and any player with a high-enough gear level should be able to breeze through these areas with relative ease.
Hard dungeons reward better gear, making future hard dungeon runs even easier.
