Louis C.K. To Host ‘SNL’ With Musical Guest Fun.; Colin Quinn Makes Twitter Suggestions
Comedian, writer, director and producer Louis C.K. will add sketch comedy show host to his lengthy resume on Nov. 3 when he hosts “Saturday Night Live.” It was announced on last Saturday’s episode that the man behind almost all aspects of FX’s “Louie” will be the next celebrity to host the long-running NBC comedy; his episode will feature fun. as the show’s musical guest.
The early-November episode is already destined to be huge because it is the final episode of “SNL” before the presidential election, which takes place the following Tuesday. Splitsider notes that picking C.K. to host this episode is an odd choice because he isn’t a political comedian, according to the entertainment publication.
Not only is C.K. an odd choice to host the show, but fun. is an odd band to perform on a show hosted by Louis. The band performs upbeat, sometimes showtunes-esque songs that couldn’t contrast more Louis’ glum comedic style.
- Splitsider reports that though this will be the first time C.K. is featured on television as part of “SNL,” he had auditioned to be a cast member in the early 1990s but was rejected. The Emmy-winning writer did write for the program for brief period.
Former “SNL” cast member and Weekend Update host Colin Quinn took to Twitter on Monday to show support for C.K. The "SNL" alumnus tweeted several skit ideas for his comedic colleague.
“SNL Opening monologue idea for @louisck Come out in snorkel,” tweeted Quinn. “Look at laughing crowd shrug ‘What? They say u sink or swim in the monologue!’”

“A sketch where @louisck does a funny parody of the geico "happier than" commercial,” wrote Quinn. “Only they bring out the real Gallagher! #melonfight’”
“Then @louisck should do a sketch where he's working on his show and he has a blind date and it's....the Church lady!! #morecowbell,” continued Quinn.
“Then a debate sketch where you think it's Obama Romney but it's @louisck and @tarankillam as....Hans and Franz!!! #pump#youup,” Quinn suggested.
“Or how about he's in a spin class and the teacher is a guest star appearance by....Lance Armstrong!” Quin said in his final tweet on the subject. “And they try to keep up with him!”
