Louis Tomlinson Slams Harry Styles Dating Rumors After 1D Celebrates 7th Anniversary

For all the One Direction fans hoping Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson will one day confess their love for one another, keep dreaming. During a recent interview, the “Back to You” singer shut down rumors that he and his band mate were more than friends.

During a chat with The Sun, the 25-year-old put to rest rumors about him dating his group member. “I’ve never actually been asked about it directly. It’s a funny thing. It kind of happened naturally for me and Harry because a certain amount of the fans drew up this conspiracy,” he told the publication.

The singer admitted that while fans think shipping the two together is all in good fun, it actually affects him and his relationships negatively. “I mean, look, people can believe what they want to believe. But I just think it comes across sometimes a little bit disrespectful to the ones that I love, you know, Eleanor [Calder],” he said referring to his off-again, on-again girlfriend.

Not only did Tomlinson and Styles’ dating rumors affect his romance but it also affected his relationships professionally. “I’m so protective over things like that, about the people I love. So it created this atmosphere between the two of us where everyone was looking into everything we did,” he explained.

“It took away the vibe you get off anyone. It made everything a little bit more unapproachable. I think [what’s happened since] shows that it was never anything ‘real’ if I can use that word,” he said.

Despite Tomlinson’s dislike of the rumors romantically linking him to Styles, the two are on good terms. “There’s no politics or anything. Inevitably in a band, you’re going to get some people who get on really well and some people who get on quite well,” the singer stated.

Tomlinson went on to reveal that he has nothing but kind things to say about his band member. “I have forever had a very, very high level of respect for Harry. He’s great in this situation, he’s great on stage, he’s a great musician and artist,” he said.

“It’s just one of those things that happens naturally in a band,” he said.

Tomlinson’s comments regarding the false romance comes after he praised One Direction for being together for seven years. “#7YearsOfOneDirection wow where has the time gone! All the love to the lads and of course you fans! Thanks for sticking around,” he wrote Sunday.

The singer hinted that One Direction would eventually get back together following several break up rumors. Tomlinson explained that “it’s not a question of if, it’s a must” for the group to return to the music. He went on to state that it’s not a matter of “if but when” 1D would get back together.

Fans disappointed that Styles and Tomlinson’s romance has no chance of being real will just have to hold on to the hope that the two will reunite on stage one day.
