Louisiana Murder-Suicide: Son Shoots Father With AR-15 Style Rifle Before Killing Self
In an apparent murder-suicide incident over the Easter weekend, a son shot his father multiple times before killing himself in Marksville, Louisiana.
Terrence “Terry” Alfred Dupuy, 50, was killed in his home after being shot multiple times with an AR-15 style assault rifle by his son, Eden, who then shot himself once in the head. The Marksville Police Department said the incident took place on Easter Sunday.
The victim was well known in the Marksville community and worked as a videographer. He had recently produced Marksville's video application for the HGTV "Hometown Takeover" program.
Dr. James Bordelon, the Avoyelles Parish coroner, said the bodies were found Sunday afternoon in the bedroom of the father's home on Monroe Street. The coroner added that the father and the son had been dead for 6-12 hours before the bodies were found.
The reason behind the killing remains unclear. Local authorities are currently investigating the incident.
In another case of murder-suicide, a man killed two children and himself at a home in Dunkirk Road, Florida, on Friday morning. Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis said the incident had “some domestic violence-type overtones.” Police were called to the home last month regarding a verbal disturbance. Officers arrived at the scene on Friday after a woman - an acquaintance - rushed to the home to check on the man after receiving a suicidal message from him. Upon arrival, the woman found the home on fire. She immediately alerted the police.
