‘Love & Hip Hop: New York’ Star Tahiry Jose Suing Over Fashion Week Fight, Claims Male Model Carlos Suggs ‘Savagely Attacked Her’
“Love & Hip Hop: New York” star Tahiry Jose is suing Carlos “Fiasco” Suggs, a male model, who she claims viciously attacked her at New York Fashion Week last year. According to the VH1 star, Suggs dragged her by her hair backstage at the September 2014 event, and beat her so bad she suffered herniated discs in her neck and back. Jose claims her injuries are still prohibiting her from working.
According to the New York Post, Jose filed the civil suit in Manhattan Supreme Court alleging that the male model “suddenly and without cause and provocation verbally and physically, brutally and savagely attacked her, beating her up, hurling obscenities at her, dragging her by her hair, continuously belittling and disrespecting her.”
TMZ reports that sources close to the situation said Suggs claimed Jose was being “too Hollywood” at the fashion show and he became irritated with her behavior. Suggs pleaded guilty to assaulting Jose, who previously dated rapper Joe Budden, and was ordered to seek anger management classes to avoid jail time. He also has to stay away from the reality TV star for five years, reports the New York Daily News. Jose’s lawyer Samuel Davis told the newspaper the brawl was so bad that it took “six or seven people” to get Suggs off Jose.
Jose has yet to comment on her suit. Last year, shortly after the incident, the model took to Instagram to explain to her followers what happened. “I was attacked, assaulted and violated, while in the workplace, by a man,” wrote Jose. “I was beaten because I am woman with a voice and refuse to be disrespected. It is more proof that the violence against women must stop; a women’s voice and refusal to be disrespected is not grounds for physical abuse… Rest assured, I will continue all my efforts and endeavors with the same faith, determination, passion and spirit I have always possessed.”
“Love & Hip Hop: New York” wrapped its Season 5 reunion in April. “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” begins Monday, Sept. 7 on VH1.
